If you were like me and were facing spinal/back surgery, and had heard all of the horror stories that about 90% of the people that had these were the same or worse off than before the surgery, you would certainly try and wait until you found that “top neurosurgeon” that everyone is looking to find. After developing structural problems that my pain management doctor could not address, he ordered a new MRI. After getting the radiologist report he said that he was coming to refer me for a surgical consultation with Dr. Sekhon. That doctor, and two of my other doctors, all said that if they had to have back/spinal surgery that Dr. Sekhon is the only doctor that they would let operate on them. I thought that this was a good recommendation so I set up an appointment to see Dr. Sekhon after he had studied my MRI. My wife went with me to our first visit. We found Dr. Sekhon to be very concerned about my condition and he took a lot of time to review the MRI scans, both from the side and from the to down, and explained what was going on. He said that if I did not have the surgery soon that I risked some of the nerves dying and that would cause permanent paralysis. He explained exactly what he would do in the surgery and had models of the spine for this particular procedure so I could see the results before and after surgery. Even I could see from the MRI scans how bad the compression of my spine had become so I called the next day to set up a date or surgery pending insurance approval. I did have another appointment with one of Dr. Sekhons PA’s who went over all of the pre-surgical procedures so I was completely prepared of what I was facing. They also told me that I would have to go to physical therapy, for from 4 to 10 weeks, after the surgical staples were removed. Dr. Sekhon also told me that it would take 3 months before healing was complete and it would take 12-13 months to fully recover from the surgery assuming that I went for the physical therapy.
On the day of surgery Dr. Sekhon came into the pre-surgical area and again explained the procedure in detail and mentioned all of the possible risks and side effects of the surgery. He then had the anesthesiologist come and talk with me about the procedure. Upon waking up in the recovery room I already felt that the pain and numbness in my legs and feet were already gone. He came in my hospital room the next day to talk about the surgery and how well it went.
My follow up appointments at 2 and 6 weeks went very well and the physical therapy is helping me to do things that I was not able to do the last 4 years. Dr. Sekhon and his staff took and genuine interest in my case and me as a person. I have absolutely no reservations in recommending him for neurosurgery of any kind. I am only 6 weeks out of the hospital and my recovery seems to be amazingly well. If I would have known the positive outcome of these results I would have HAD this surgery some time GO.

During physical therapy post full hip replacement, I had continuous pain that would not abate. my therapist concluded after repeated attempts to solve my discomfort that my hip was not the source of the pain but rather my spine and identified the cause as L2/L3. Joel Peck(my P/T) suggested I contact Dr.Sekhon,as he had patients from Dr. Sekhon and told me Dr. Sekhon was the best. My visits prior to determaining that surgery was the only option left, Dr. Sekhon and his staff(Curt/Eric) tried the options available to reduce/end my pain. Prior to surgery, Dr. Sekhon explained in detail exactly what the surgery would entail, the rehab, percent of success of the surgery and the time required to rehab and return to my "normal"life. The day after surgery(11/18/15) I was up and walking the halls with absolutely NO PAIN!!!, needless to say I was beyond happy.
Dr. Sekhon and his staff are without a doubt, the most skilled, professional, caring and concerned group I have ever had the pleasure of being treated. As of 02/11/16, my brace came off, the x-rays showed all was solid and I will begin physical therapy within a couple of day.
I have told others I know with spine/back issues, Dr. Sekhon and staff are the only ones to see.
Thank you Dr. Sekhon, Curt and Greg for all you have done, words cannot express the appreciate I have.

active male, 72 yrs. old with 3 prior back surgeries, Reno, NV.
Dr. Sekhon's attitude, demeanor and knowledge at our pre-surgery meeting allayed all my fears and concerns that the surgery was what I needed. His surgeon's skills were evident in the fact that I had minimal pain from the surgery site after the operation. The stabbing back pain is gone. Follow-up visits to the office were always punctual, compassionate and caring. Problems were always taken care of immediately. I will not hesitate to recommend Dr. Sekhon to anyone I know who has back problems.

I was seen with Multilevel lumbar degenerative disk disease, severe spinal stenosis with a congenitally narrow canal, L1-L2, L2-L3, L3-L4 and L4-L5. And, peripheral polyneuropathy. Dr. Sekhon and his team performed an L1-L2, L2-L3, L3-L4, L4-L5 decompressive laminectomy and bilateral foraminotomies. After surgery, I was walking as soon as I woke up. Nominal pain - in fact, I left the prescribed meds alone after about a week. As well, my recovery has been fantastic.
Dr. Sekhon and his staff have been superb! (A term I never use) Professional. Factual. Very knowledgeable. Communicative and helpful. If you are considering any of Dr Sekhons' services, I would not hesitate to recommend Sierra Neuro!!

I had a quadruple Laminectomy 6 months ago by Dr Sekhon. When you meet him, you'll know you're in good hands. He sits beside you, & explains everything related to your case. I'm not exaggerating, when I say he's smartest person I've ever met. He treats you like you are one of his family. Everyone in his office is friendly, & efficient. The nurses, & office staff are top notch. Greg Graves, one of his pa's, (I've had minimal contact with the other one), is great also. I have some other health issues, & they make sure they are taken care of . They follow up on my back to make sure I get the the best care. when you meet Dr. Sekhon you'll know you made the right decision................

I'm not one to do testimonials, typically, but I was very impressed with my experience at Sierra Neurosurgery, and Dr Sekhon in particular.
I fell and injured my spinal cord at work, and my ability to walk, stand balanced and move around were rapidly diminishing. Day, by day my symptoms were getting worse. During my first visit with Dr. Sekhon, he reassured me that he was going to fix the problem. I had some doubt but my fears and concerns were put to rest by his professionalism and confidence. I was ready for surgery. From that first appt on everything moved very rapidly. My pre-op work, MRI's and preparation happened very quickly. I was ready to move forward.
My surgery was about 12 weeks ago. My experience at the hospital as well as subsequent visits to Sierra Neurosurgery have been excellent. Curt in the office as well as Dr Sekhon are very attentive, concerned and professional. I am extremely grateful to them and their staff.
I still have a few symptoms, but day by day I am progressing and I am looking forward to a complete recovery. Something I wouldn't have thought possible just a short time ago.
